As I take a break from solving all the problems of my life, I have been focusing on problems of my practice and working on my Wicked Problem. After brainstorming and collaborating I landed on this: How can I get students more comfortable with face-to-face interactions in a digital world?
Most of the issues I assist students with have to do with a lack of communication and discomfort with confrontation. Speaking to some of my classmates, it is clear this is a problem that is being seen throughout all grade levels, not just higher education.
In the journey of trying to find an answer to my questions, I worked on a survey this week to start getting more perspectives on this issue. There is so much more that goes into designing a successful survey than just picking questions and sending them out. For me personally, trying to not pick only open-ended questions was a challenge.
After messing around with Google Forms, I realized that I wanted to break up the questions more: this is when I learned about sections. I found a helpful YouTube video, How break up a Google Form into multiple pages | Tips & Tricks Episode 110 that helped me break up my questions on separate pages, as well as adding a progress bar, so I wouldn’t overwhelm my survey-takers.
I’m excited to see what information and insight I gain in the next week with my survey and look forward to getting closer to some sort of solution for my Wicked Problem.
