Technology has a huge impact on how we create, think, and live our lives. We are influenced by the things around us and online each day. We may see things that we resonate with that we want to share with others. It is crucial to make sure we follow the Creative Common laws, respect copyright, and attribute where needed.

This week I learned a lot about how to cite resources that I’m using for educational purposes each day. I found out that I fell a little short while citing my image sources. Positively, I did have a link to the photo and used images that were free for personal use. I found out I didn’t give enough credit to the author or to the license that allowed me to use that photo.

After watching a video by Common Sense Education I became super interested in copyright and how to get permission to use images, how it works, how you can use images through fair use, and how to credit images properly. I wanted to share what I learned this week and you can see the recap in my video Copyright is Alright on Youtube.

I hope you can take something from this video, and either use it to further the way you educate or inform your learners about Creative Common laws. It may even give you some clarity on how you cite your sources now and other resources you may be interested in remixing!
